BLOGY, BROUGHT IUE TOGETHER
As social media, an important part of our daily life, reaches out to more people every day, Izmir University of Economics brought the academic and administrative personnel together with “Blogy”.
“Blogy”, which was developed by Hüseyin Alp and Can Geliş, students of Faculty of Engineering and Computer Sciences, Department of Software Engineering under the conduct of Management Information Systems Directorate, reached to one thousand 322 users in no time. Students, academic, and administrative personnel join together at the same social media and share everything they want at Blogy. Blogy, which is a social sharing site just like Facebook and Twitter, brings only Izmir University of Economics community together. You can share course notes, add pictures, seek information, find out about all the activities and announcements taking place at the University, and have fun while doing these.
Türkay Palancı, Director of Management Information Systems, pointed out that Blogy attracted a lot of attention, especially of students’, in a very short time. He said, “We established a social media environment where the University students, academic and administrative personnel are able to share the events, announcements, and more, with each other. You will be able to post and share everything on Blogy; from course contents to things for sale, looking for a roommate to weekend trips.”
Palancı, who stated that students had a chance to follow their courses via Blogy, said, “It is very easy to use Blogy! Just like using Facebook, Twitter, or Wordpress. Users may follow you or a category you create. With its Blogging feature, subjects you wish to write about and share will show up on your followers’ wall instantly. You may find other users by doing search, and start following and sharing with them! Also, you will be able to follow up the courses you take through OASIS integration automatically; announcements about courses and course contents will automatically pop up on your wall. It is also a big convenience for the lecturers, courses they conduct will automatically open and students will follow.”
